If you thought that the Abu Dhabi family’s problems could have been made easier with the help of a decent translator, which could have saved them the embarrassment of buying a team without own stadium, you’ll have to think again.

Not only do the multi-billionaires have to live up that error now it also seems that they will have to send their manager to ground school again. Former ManUtd legend Mark Hughes admitted that he will keep an eye on the game at Anfield on Sunday but contrarily to other seasons this time he will look at the result in the hope that one team might drop points and improve Citeh’s position. According to the greying Welsh man top 4 teams seem to perform worse than in previous seasons:

When we go up against the top four teams, if we can do our work and take points off them, then that will help us in terms of the ambitions we have,” he added

Let’s have a look at the table for ManUtd so far: we played 9 games, won 7 times, drew once and lost once, totalling 22 points out of 27.
There are 38 League games in the Prem or 114 points to be earned for every squad. If to keep things simple we quadruple our total points so far, this would lead to 88 points (and actually two more games or 6 more points to be won).

How many points were needed in the last five seasons to win the title?:

2008 – 2009: ManUtd 90 points, Liverpool 86 points

2007 – 2008: ManUtd 87 points, Chelsea 85 points

2006 – 2007: ManUtd 89 points, Chelsea 83 points

2005 – 2006: Chelsea 91 points, ManUtd 83 points

2004 – 2005: Chelsea 95 points, Arsenal 83 points

As can be seen from those tables, 88 points are sufficient to clinch the title and then there still would be two games to be played.

With another derby in front of us, probably the most exciting one every year, against the Dippers, what better way to preview with some older and memorable videos from the last years.

The Waiter Looks for Excuses Why Liverpool Might Not Win The League, AKA Rafa’s Epic Rant.

Long before Christmas Rafa Benitez launched an epic rant against Ferguson last season. After the rant Liverpool’s results started to get worse and worse. Once more it has been proven that the Achilles heel of Liverpool one Spaniard is. Fact.

Neville Celebrates Victory

After the final whistle in January 2006, a game won 1-0 after an injury time goal of Rio Ferdinand, our skipper Gary Neville ran the whole length of the pitch to celebrate the victory and kiss the ManUtd badge… in front of the Liverpool fans. Rooney also joined in on the fun. Neville would later be fined £5000 by the FA.

Ferdinand’s Injury Time Goal – January 2006

An injury time header from Ferdinand decided the game at Old Trafford.

Rio at Old Trafford – October 2006.

Some months later Rio Ferdinand again would score against Liverpool. This probably is one of his best goals ever and gave ManUtd a deserved 2-0 victory after Paul Scholes’ goal in the first half.

John O’Shea at Anfield – March 2007

The moment John O’Shea became a Legend: an injury time winning header at Anfield.

Slowly the boy is becoming more annoying than the Sparky we know today. In a new episode (I could be wrong and it might be Whinge Episode 27144 already) the Argentinean <strike>escort</strike> <strike>loan</strike> player has now announced that contrarily to games against West Ham he will celebrate when he scores against Manchester United.

In the derby against United I had also decided not to celebrate our goals but, after the bad treatment I received from the supporters that day, I have changed my stance on that.

If I score in the next derby then I am sure that I will celebrate.

The emphasis here obviously is on when. We do not have to look far where he gets his inspiration from. There is the person we once loved and still want to respect but Mark Hughes has changed massively ever since he said at the press conference he was introduced as new Council House manager ‘I have played for other clubs as well’ but Tevez’s influencer is someone else.

The Bulgarian record signing, who scored his second of the season on Saturday against Stoke, has hailed Ryan Giggs as the player who made the decisive impact at the Britannia Stadium.
The veteran United legend come on for the still inconsisted Portuguese Nani in the 60th minutes, only to follow up very quickly with a splicing assist Berbatov only had to tap in. The Red Devils took the lead and before the end whistle was blown Giggs had delivered a second assist which O’Shea nodded in.

Their is no doubt about the impact of the Welsh star this season and one can easily say ‘Who needs Cristiano Ronaldo? Mark Hughes does!’, but at the same time it is a rather disappointing and scary situation we are living right at the moment. One which could cost us the title if we don’t watch out.

Time for Youngsters to Step Up and Claim The Midfield Theirs

Already last season we have had several players trying to dominate the midfield. Of course there is Michael Carrick, who has delivered some splicing passes and is a hard worker in our midfield, regularly tracking back and even tackling, but Carrick really under performs when he has to push the team forward in difficult times. He does not seem to be able to carry the weight of the team when the going gets rough.

Personally I can not wait for Owen Hargreaves to join our 11 again because I believe that he the person is who can carry the weight of the squad when needed. He think he has this great mix of being a bonkers rough tackler who is aggressive enough to push the squad forward. And contrarily to Nani, or the Portuguese #7 who used to run over the pitch at Old Trafford, he certainly has the eye to deliver a pass. He isn’t scared either to try his luck from far, with a better conversion than Anderson.

Darren Fletcher has performed remarkably over the last months and became a pilar of our midfield, but right at the moment I still tend to consider him a squattie and not the player who reigns over the midfield.

Instead we still have to really on our two legends, Scholes and Giggs. I am not complaining but I really think someone needs to step up NOW and claim that midfield his.

Or could their be another option? I think so, but that would require a rather big shuffle in our forward line. Before I post my thoughts on this option tomorrow, what do you guys think? How can we improve the midfield and who has shoulders large enough to take over in the midfield?

It was uttered that he would decided in December whether he would continue next season or not but today he told The Mirror that he still is hungry and will not retire before Manchester United have won the Champions League again.

The two times CL winner, with Ajax before he won the Cup with the Big Ears with the Red Devils, is not worried about the threat Real madrid could pose either:

I am not concerned by what Real Madrid have done. It is all about the team spirit. Eleven Cristiano Ronaldos wouldn’t lead to success.

The #1 United goal keeper, who is rumoured to return on the international stage with the Netherlands in South Africa next summer, also said some wise words about the Portuguese winger:

Of course, Ronaldo was a big player for us. And we have to change our team a bit now. But we will do that. United is a lot bigger than Ronaldo.
